After a successful season, the D51 Girls Swim Team (which includes Junction, Palisade, Central, and Caprock), had a chance to get recognized for their hard work at the State Sendoff this past Wednesday, showing that it takes more than just talent to win. With over ten people being sent to state, this marks a huge milestone for the girls swim team, especially after winning Conference this season.
Since October the swimmers on the team have been training with dedication, and their hard work has definitely paid off. With lots of new swimmers who joined this season, it took lots of effort to get where the team is now. With comradery and lots of practice, they managed to win Conference, showing that not just pure talent wins titles, but with leadership and perseverance you can do anything you put your mind to, and with this mindset, they ended the season undefeated. “I thought [the sendoff] was really good, it’s a really empowering experience,” noted Emily Hardin, a Senior at Palisade who qualified for state in swim. “Before we did Palisade’s sendoff, we did it at Junction, and it was really lame. It was just nice to know that teachers and my friends were supporting our team. My favorite part of the season was getting to know the girls on the team which I know sounds so cliché but honestly I feel like I’m a person who’s fulfilled so much by personal connection and the fact that I was able to talk and get to know them is cool. There’s so many amazing people from Junction and Palisade and it’s super fun to get to know people.” Congratulations to the District Girls Swim Team!
