On January 14th, the Palisade girls’ Basketball team played at Grand Junction High School against the Tigers, and things went well for them. Junction gave them a good run, but the Bulldogs were able to claim their fourth win in a row.
The winning score was 45-32. Sophomore Imari Bosshardt was an outstanding player. Her hard work in practice really shows on that court. At the end of the game stats showed that Bosshardt got a double-double. A double-double is when you have a two digit stats twice. For Bosshardt, she scored 19 points and had 11 rebounds. That’s awesome!
The Tigers gave the girls a run for their money; they weren’t sure if they had a shot, but Coach Don Bavor is great at what he does. Coach shares, “I had a little nerves before the game, but the girls have been working so hard in practice, I knew they would show up to play. The girls seemed to be nervous as well.” Captains Lyla Lancaster and Sadie Bunker showed their connections and were well at calming the girls down. I asked coach Bavor how the game was overall, and he goes on to say “Junction came right out and hit a big three, we didnt get rattled. We stuck with the game plan and played great defense for 4 quarters. Junction is a good team with players who have varsity experience. We ecpected for both teams to give their best effort, and the game was really fun overall.” Every games Coach has a “Player of the game,” and for this game, he chose Imari Bosshardt. “Imari shot the ball really well for us that night, and got her first double-double in her career. Very impressive! I am extremely proud of the girls as they have bought into being a defensive team that does not take off possessions!”
Sophomore Imari Bosshardt shares, “I was nervous before the game, and everyone was very hyped; we all knew it was going to be a good game. Getting the win was such a success, and getting to feel confident in my team was such a good feeling. All together we played really well, and i couldnt have done it without my team.” Bosshardt was proud of her team and says that looking back at the game, she is happy with how the team worked together. The team overall has outstanding players, but getting back to the gym and communicating with one another will be their biggest challenge.
