On the weekend after Thanksgiving the new Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 movie came out, receiving a lot of mixed reviews between fans and viewers. Two students here at Palisade High School, Sophia Lopez and Sam Folensbee, are both fans of the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise. Lopez was first to say, “It was good I liked it. Not a lot of people liked it though.” Folnsbee added on “Like the reviews, professional movie reviewers, they don’t know the lore, and they don’t know Five Nights at Freddy’s.” Lopez added, “And then a lot of people in general had very mixed opinions, like I would see online ‘Oh this movie was so good’ then I would also see ‘This movie is literally the worst movie I’ve ever seen.’” To back Sophia’s opinion, she explains, “I was an IPad kid, I got an IPad at like three, and I would go onto Youtube and watch playthroughs of the Five Nights at Freddy’s games.” Folnsbee also added, “I’ve been watching Markiplier play it since 2014.” It is interesting to see how big things around the world can be brought back into the house of the Bulldogs.
Fans say that it is a very high lore packed movie, and is very reassuring to the future of the Five Nights at Freddy’s movies and the continuation of it. It involved many old memes that had originated amongst the fans and many easter eggs from the games. The actors, such as Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, and Piper Rubio played a really big part during this movie. The director, Emma Tammi in a Fandango interview said, after being asked how this movie is different from the last one, “We started by adding new people (Mckenna Grace) and adding a bunch more of animatronics and lore.” Also Mathew Lillard who plays William Afton, adds on, “There are a lot more jump scares, there’s a lot more set pieces. I think it’s a lot more exciting, a lot more things happen.” Then Josh Hutcherson adds, “Everything just goes a little deeper, a little darker, a little scarier.” This is very much reflected in the movie because there is a lot more detail in the movie then the last one, and it is developed a little deeper within the relationships of the characters.
