The Palisade High School Football team advanced to the second round of the playoffs against Roosevelt and emerged with a win. It was a great win with a score of 21-14. The Dawgs have been putting in major efforts, and it has been worth it. Unlike last week when the comeback came after the second half, the Dawgs were up 13-6 before halftime after Cade Carter scored a Touchdown. After halftime, Roosevelt was reset and made an astonishing pass through the middle and scored a touchdown that left us behind by one point. Palisade was determined and had their heads on tight. The defense made some big plays but was still unable to turn them into points. Palisade pulled out a tricky play to hopefully change the scoreboard. Senior Dylon Larson received a pitch, but instead of running it, he threw the pass downfield to Junior Aidan Shiao, who took it all the way to the end zone for a touchdown. The team was ready to throw more steam out there with an attempt at a two-point conversion. Quarterback Branson Springer rolled out with a pass to Nathan Umberger, who caught the pass and made a successful conversion. Roosevelt was ready for a comeback. Roosevelt made the ball all the way downfield, sitting at the perfect scoring position. On fourth down, Roosevelt passed right down the middle, hoping for a successful touchdown; however, Carter Hayward broke up the pass and caused a turnover on downs. The Bulldogs ran out the clock and won the game.
