This year, the Girls’ Basketball team is coming back strong and ready for the season. They have been working hard this summer during open gyms and the club season. This year Coach Don Bavor created a select club team for the girls this fall, and he chose his best players to play on it. The team has had a great offseason. Summer ball and fall ball have given the players an opportunity to get in more reps and start to define their roles. Coach Bavor says, “One of our core values is putting the team’s needs above the individual’s needs, and I strongly believe that we have a group of girls that exemplifies that. We will work hard and give our best effort on a daily basis.” Coach Bavor also expresses his excitement, explaining, “I am so EXCITED, every year you get to not only start over with some new players, but you also get the opportunity to continue to build on what is already established. During the preseason, we have had a record number of girls come to open gyms and minicamp, and I am proud of the work that they are putting in. We have multiple girls who stay late or come in early to get in extra work.” Coach Bavor looks for those girls who strive to put in the extra work and who have dedicated so much time and effort to the sport. Coach Bavor has been coaching for 27 years and says that out of all of his years coaching, Palisade High School has been the best coaching experience of his career. The administration, parents, and most importantly, players have been supportive of our program. Coach Bavor especially says, “I would like to personally thank my coaching staff for their dedication to our program (Lexi Hall, Will, Scott, and Coach Krstatter). They put in endless hours of work not only preparing and coaching during the season, however they know the importance of building our players up to become great young ladies in our community. My managers are also a huge part of our successful program (Sophia, Natalia, Zoaane, Brylee, and Taylar). A special thank you to them for all that they do; they are a huge part of our team. It is my honor to coach at PHS, and I am looking forward to another great year. GO DAWGS.” The girls have so much coming for them this season and so much support. The school can’t wait to see where the season takes them. Go Dogs!

Sophia Rish, Staff Writer
Hello! My name is Sophia Rish, also known as Rish. I am a Sophomore, and this is my first year in Newspaper as a staff writer. As this is my first year, I am excited to learn more about the school and writing stories. Outside of school, I enjoy gymnastics, golf, pickleball, fishing, traveling, being outdoors, baking, and spending time with the people I love. I am very devoted to the sport of gymnastics. I have been a gymnast for 11 years, and it keeps me very busy. I am also very steadfast in my relationship with Jesus Christ and do all things to glorify the Lord. I am so excited for this year and can’t wait to be a part of the Palisade Paw Post!
