The Palisade Bulldogs showed their determination, teamwork, and passion in a thrilling 3-1 win against Durango last Friday, September 12th. Despite a slow start in the first set, the Bulldogs were determined to win.
Palisade is playing with a very strong team with just one Senior, one Freshman, and a majority of Juniors and a couple being Sophomores, but their age doesn’t hold them back. The match was intense from start to finish, with the student section cheering, teammates calling for the ball, and both sides fighting for every point.
After the game, Junior Bella Fenske commented on her feelings. Fenske said “We were very determined after the first set and we fought a lot harder than the first set.” Junior Lizzie Snover also shared her thoughts “At first I was nervous going into the game because the game on Tuesday wasn’t that good… but I thought we were a lot more determined after the first set.” That determination was evident in every play leading to the win. And after interviewing Junior Violet Welker who shared about how she played and her feelings about the game. Welker said “The game was so loud and intense from the court…I also had some really good spikes.” Violet had 13 points and most of them from her powerful spikes. Welker also said, “I noticed the student section cheering really loud, but I didn’t let that get to me. I just did my thing with a spike on that ball.”
This win wasn’t just about the scoreboard but it was about the determination they wanted to make up after not starting the way they intended.
