This Wednesday January 29th, the Palisade Boys wrestling team faced their toughest challengers head on, the Fruita Wildcats. Through blood, sweat, and tears they came up short with the ending score being 15-58 . They gave it their all every time they came onto the mat, and are using this loss as motivation for their next tournament against the Durango Demons on February 1st. Sophomore Jacob Snodgrass states, “We definitely could’ve been more aggressive and it was tough having a lot of our guys not be able to wrestle because of sickness.” Snodgrass has been wrestling for three years and is in the 157 weight class. “Our goal before facing Fruita was to just be aggressive and try our hardest. We knew that Fruita was going to be a tough team but still went out there to give it our all.” The Bulldogs are not giving up hope, they are using each lesson to become stronger and better wrestlers. They are using each match to prepare themselves for the Regional tournament on February 7th and 8th. Freshman Deigen Salvati states, “Before going up against Fruita I knew that we were down by too much to come back, and that I had a pretty good opponent but I knew that I just had to keep fighting. The outcome wasn’t what I wanted but I had a pretty good match.” Salvati has been wrestling for a couple of years and is now wrestling in the 138 weight class. “We’re going to just keep moving forward onto Regionals and keep pushing in the practice room and just get better from there.” The boys wrestlers are going to keep pushing no matter what comes their way. They are going to be using each lesson to their advantage and get better every day.
