This week we will poke around into the Annual blood drive. The blood drive was a good way to help some people in need in our community, there was lots of support for the blood drive and you even get a little treat after you give blood.
This annual blood drive was on Friday January 24. Students and teachers both donated that could and it made a big impact on the community. You have to be 16 or older in order to give blood and get a signed form for people under 18 for safety reasons. What this blood drive did and was for was that lots of people came in and donated their blood and that blood goes to vitalant to help with blood banks or people who might need blood.
Most people donate blood to help others who may need it.Palisae senior, Brielle Sorensen got her blood drawn for the drive. “I like the feeling of helping people and knowing the blood I’m giving is going to benefit somebody else.” Getting your blood drawn for the first time can be scary. Sovensen comments on her experience of getting her blood drawn. “Last year was my first time and I was very scared of it, but this time it went smoothly because I was hydrated and knew how to do it.” According to Brielle Sorensen “The finger pricking hurts more than the actual blood draw, they have to prick your finger first to test your blood type and that hurts more if anything.” They had snacks there for you if your blood sugar was low for safety. If you’re interested in giving blood to help others, you can go down to The Vitalant Blood Donation center where you can give blood any time.
