Homecoming is one of the biggest events and dances that Palisade presents during the school year. While people want to go, there are rules you have to oblige by and put in, in order to attend. If people cannot or do not oblige by these rules, they are not allowed to attend homecoming. Our assistant Principal, Mr. Hayward says, “We ask students to have no more than three absences, they can’t have more than three unexcused absences in the two weeks up to the dance. They can’t have any suspensions leading in the week, or try to go while suspended because it’s a safety thing.” Our Principal, Mr. Bollinger says, “ If you’re under suspension towards the end of the week, and if you’re in suspension you can’t attend any activities that day. Also, too many absences will not let you attend, we will pull peoples absences in the last two weeks and see who’s eligible.”
Don’t go to the dance alone, bring a friend or a date to enjoy the experience nice more. You have to proceed to follow the rules, when going through this process. Freshman Sophia Rish says, “How I was able to bring my friend, was I went to the front office and had my parent fill out the parts of the sheet she needed to, and then I mailed the sheet to my friend and she also had her parent fill out all of her information. Once you have decided that you want to take a friend or a relative that goes to a different school to homecoming you have to have your paper signed and make sure you have the principal sign your paper as well. I’m having my friend bring the paper to homecoming and then that’s when Mr. Bollinger will sign it.” Bringing another person to Homecoming, you also have to follow the rules that Mr. Hayward and Mr. Bollinger say, “They have to be highschool age. If your boyfriend is a 8th grader and your in 9th grader you couldn’t bring him we don’t allow middle schoolers and we also don’t allow people over 20 so if your 21 or older you can’t come as a guest.” Have a good time at Homecoming Bulldogs!
