As it was written, the new sequel to the sci-fi series Dune: Part Two knocked other films out of the water. Following its release, it immediately gained popularity and brought people back to the theaters. In my personal opinion, it was better than the first one. This is because the storyline was stronger and I better understood what was happening in the film. The casting also deserves a round of applause, with Timothee Chalamet acting bravely as the main character, Paul Atredies and Zendaya as a wise Freman and Atredies’ main love interest. The storyline of this film follows Paul uniting with the Freman, a group of people who inhabit a desert planet which is the sole known source of all important spice, to stop the people who killed his family in the first film and help return the planet back to the Freman. Full of action, a bone-chilling soundtrack, Oscar-worthy cinematography, and a romantic storyline thrown in-between, this film is a must see. My only complaint is the run time, which I think could’ve been cut back by half and hour. Advice before you watch would be to read the books, or at least read a short summary online because sometimes the storyline will be hard to follow. Everything about this movie was great, aside from the run time, and I would love to see it again for the first time. The third Dune movie is currently in production and probably won’t be released for a few years, as the second one took 3 years before release. I can’t wait what the third Dune will have to offer, but as a devoted Star Wars fan, I can’t say it will ever be up to that level in my opinion.
