Last Saturday, March 30th, our boys baseball team faced up against the Steamboat Springs Sailors in a double header for their first league games of the season. The boys took the win in both games with an ending score of 15-5 the first game, and a 24-0 shutout in the second game. “Both games went as planned, we got some of our younger guys in and played really well,” says right fielder Ascher Morby. In the first game, Sophomores Kian Kinslow and Hunter Howard had games at the plate batting 0.750 and 0.600. Junior Easton Embrey hit 0.667. Kinslow, Sophomore Dylon Larson, and Senior Soren Ashcraft all had one double. Howard and Freshman Wyatt Fleming both had one triple. Larson also added five stolen bases. In the second game, Kinslow, Larson, Howard, and Morby all hit 1.000. Kinslow had four RBI’s and Larson had five. Howard had three doubles. The boys run ruled Steamboat in the third inning with Morby pitching. They only allowed two hits in this game. “We struggled a little bit in the first game to come out, then everyone started hitting in the second game, and scored 23 runs pretty quickly,” says Morby. “It helps me express who I am, and helps me grow in faith,” says Morby on behalf of why he loves baseball. The Bulldogs start off their league play strong, now holding a 2-0 record in the 4A Western Slope League. Good luck the rest of your season!!
