Last Thursday February 8th, the bulldogs drove over to Edwards, Colorado and faced the Battle Mountain Huskies. The boys took the win with an impressive ending score of 94-53. The boys shared the ball well and had some impressive individual stats. Sophomore point guard Hunter Howard, led the team with 17 total points. Following him, Junior’s Layne Ruppelius and LJ Ballenger had 13 and 11. Senior Fred Moore led the way on the boards with 9 rebounds, and added 12 total points. This win was huge and extended their record to 9-12, and their league record to 2-2. Howard leads the Bulldogs averaging 13.3 points per game, 5.4 rebounds per game, 3.3 assists per game, and 2.3 steals per game. “You really bond with your teammates, and unless you’re close with your teammates you’re not going to be successful in the game, with trust and with communication,” says Howard on behalf of why he loves the game of basketball. Howard is an essential leader for the bulldogs, even though he is only a Sophomore. He has been playing basketball since second grade, and has big goals in the future. “I think our goal is to win these next few games so our seeding gets boosted and hopefully get a chance in the playoffs,” says Howard. The boys have had a tough schedule this year, but they continue to battle. The boys will face Battle Mountain again on Thursday the 15th. Good luck the rest of the season boys!!
