The mystery continues as a decapitated head and severed hands were discovered by new homeowners inside an abandoned freezer at their property in Grand Junction, Colorado. Police in Colorado are collaborating and are searching through missing person files to try and identify a person whose decapitated head was discovered in a chest freezer. They have already taken tests to try to come to the conclusion of whose body remains were discovered, but tests like those take time so we are not entirely sure how long it will take to figure out who was in the freezer. The horrifying discovery was made when the home on the 2900 block of Pinyon Avenue changed homeowners earlier this month. The new owners held a yard sale to try and dispose of leftover junk the last family left behind. The new homeowner told officials that she learned what had happened when the people intending to buy the freezer came to her door and stated what was going on. Turns out they opened the freezer to empty it just to better transfer it and a head fell out, a human head. Police later confirmed that human hands were also found in the freezer. ‘A thorough and detailed investigation is the top priority’ stated the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office in a recent news release. Iris Rath,a student at Palisade stated, “You see things like this on the news all the time and you feel scared and worried, but sometimes you think ‘Oh it’s not that common, especially in smaller towns, there’s no need for me to worry that much’ and then it happens. I don’t even know what I want to say about it, it’s scary to think about, like who was it? Why did they do it? How did we only just now find out?” The police are trying their hardest to find the identity of the victim while also showing respect, and hope to give their condolences to the family and community once they get down to the bottom of this case.
