With Fall sports beginning to wrap up and come to a close, we can start looking forward to Winter sports, more specifically, boys basketball! Last season the team went 9-14 and got 3rd in the 5A Western Slope League. The team is committed to having an out of the park season, and they’ve shown it by practicing hard year round!
The boys will have their first game at the end of the month, November 30th against Central at Moffat County. Until then, tryouts will begin within the next week, introducing a new group of Freshmen to the court. The Bulldogs will be up against some tough competition this year, but luckily, they have been preparing all year with early morning practices and quite a few tournaments. I spoke to Coach Cory and asked him how preseason has been for the boys, he told me, “It’s been good, turnout is amazing, energy’s been awesome, the guys have been catching on quick. We played a lot of basketball this season and the growth has been incredible, so I’m just excited to see how it all pans out this year.” When I asked Coach how he felt about the upcoming season, he responded, “I’m excited about the season, we’ve got a good group of guys that work hard, show up, don’t complain, and continue to get better everyday.” I spoke to Francisco Garza, a Sophomore basketball player at Palisade, he had this to say about the season, “The team is coming together, we’ve been working all summer playing games non-stop. It’s looking like it’ll be a good season, we don’t have as much size, but we have heart.”
We wish the Bulldog’s luck as they conquer the season ahead of them and can’t wait to come out and support them at every game!
