Palisade Signing Day
Last Tuesday, April 11th, Palisade High School had its second signing day of the year, this time with 10 athletes! All those athletes have worked extremely hard their entire student career, both on the field and off, and we can’t wait to see what they pursue beyond Palisade!
At 3:00 on Tuesday, students, teachers, and parents gathered in the auditorium to watch the 10 Seniors take a huge step toward their new future. There was a large range of who was getting signed and where from a few signing right here in town at CMU to more getting signed all the way in Arizona and Nebraska. There was also a lot of variation between what sports were getting signed, from, track, football, baseball, and wrestling, to golf, softball, and cheer.
Mr. Hawkins, who kicked off the signing ceremony, said that in his career at Palisade, this was the most amount of Seniors that he had seen signed. CMU gained 3 great new athletes, Keyton Young for Wrestling, Olivia Langner for Track, and Trey Hitzemann for Football. Brett Rozman and Josh Zotto both signed for Baseball at Central Arizona Junior College and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, respectively. Alex Morrall and Ally Seriani signed up for Golf with Doane University and Northeastern Junior College. Melissa Carrol signed with Friends University for Softball, and Dakota Hatcher signed with Western Colorado University for cheer.
I spoke to Dakota Hatcher about how he was feeling on the exciting day and he had this to say, “I was very excited, I’ve never had that big of an accomplishment before, so I just felt really proud and happy that I was able to make it that far.” We can’t wait to see where the future takes these rising athletes, and we know they will continue to make Palisade Proud!
