As homecoming season rolls around, the students await the exciting events and traditions that come with it. Fun school traditions include sporting events, assemblies, and dances. This year, Palisade’s Homecoming dance is on September 14th. The homecoming dance is a very long standing tradition among many high schools. The proposals for homecoming create lots of fun and original ideas but it is also anxiety inducing. Palisade reintroduces their yearly tradition of doing a friendly contest of homecoming proposals. The proposal with the most likes posted on the Palisade High School instagram is rewarded two free tickets to homecoming. The wait to see who the winner is for the proposal contest creates a feeling of excitement and anticipation.
One of the best proposals was between Freshmen Jevan Woolery and Karmyn Long. Woolery and Long have known each other for many years. Jevan said, “We are very good friends and I have known her since Pre-K.”
Being nervous is an inevitable part of asking anyone to a school dance, it is a tradition in itself to be nervous. Jevan stated, “ I was very nervous to ask her but I still expected her to say yes.” He also said, “I really hope I can win the free homecoming tickets.” Jevan’s post on the phsspirt instagram account got 109 likes making it one of the more popular posts. The competition ended on September 5th at 3:15. The winner of the tickets is yet to be announced.
