Cheer Team at Western camp

School started with the second round of cheer tryouts, doubling the size of the team. At the end of the 2021-2022 school year there was the first round of cheer tryouts. In the end, there were ten cheerleaders including 2 guys, the first male cheerleaders in 5 years. One of the girls, Alexa Talavera, a sophomore, tried out at the end of the school year as part of the original 10 on the cheer squad. “I like that we were all really close to each other and had great connections.” That is what her favorite part of the original team was the family and bonds she created in her previous experiences . When asked about new teammates Alexa answered, “They have a lot of potential and good qualities to them.” Alea frequently talked about how she is thrilled to see her new teammates become part of the family. At the end of the recent tryouts the team went from 10 to 22 doubling the size of the cheer squad. One of the new members of the cheer squad, a sophomore, Madysan Bay When asked about how she felt about being on the team she said, “I like cheer, it’s really fun and like all the people I do it with.” She was really excited to be part of the cheer squad and grow with her new team. Madysan said “We need to work on coordination and just getting to know each other.”  She is ready to grow and do great things with the team. She is very thrilled to cheer for our Palisade Bulldogs.
