Palisade High School softball took another win last night against Grand Junction High School, 5-4,  setting them on a two-game winning streak. The Palisade Bulldogs now have ten wins with only two losses. They are also undefeated in the 4A Western Slope league with a record of 2-0. This last weekend they headed over to Denver for a tournament and played 2 games on Friday winning the first one against Air Academy but unfortunately losing to Elizabeth in the second game. The tournament was then canceled Saturday because of the weather. They then went to face Rifle High School for a league game at Rifle and came home with an 11-1 win after 5 innings.

The Bulldogs did turn around and have a bit of a slow start in the game against Grand Junction Wednesday night with Junction getting a 2-0 jump in the first inning. The bulldogs however didn’t give up the fight and came back tying it 3-3 by the end of the second inning. They continued their fight and scored two more points in the third inning and only allowed Grand Junction to score one more point in the fifth inning.

When asked how she thought the season was going so far pitcher, Mikayla Talbott, said “I think the season is going pretty well right now and that we have a good shot at state.” To get to state she said the team needs to, “work harder and just come out with the urge to win and have each other’s backs.
