Notable director Martin Scorsese is back once again with his ambitious filmmaking in Killers of the Flower Moon. I went into this film with no knowledge of what it was about, and I was not disappointed. Collaborating with Leonardo DiCaprio, Scorsese creates the film which is based on a true story and also a novel. The story follows betrayal with Mollie, played by Lily Grant, who is a member of the Osage Nation during a fleet of murders within the tribe. So far, the film has brought in $87.3 million in the box office. This film was extraordinary with a perfect amount of Scorsese sprinkled throughout. With a 3 and a half hour runtime, I did not use the bathroom the entire time and I am very proud of that. DiCaprio delivered well with his performance and trust me, I’ve seen him in other iconic films, but this film was what did it for me and made me realize how amazing and deserving of an actor DiCaprio truly is. He portrayed all the emotions that sent chills down my body; he made me laugh, he made me cry, he made me smile, he did it all. DiCaprio moved up to my list of “Greatest Actors” after watching this film. Scorsese’s depiction of betrayal and different human emotions throughout the film was beautiful and full of talent. Scorsese’s other notable films include The Wolf of Wall Street, Taxi Driver, and Goodfellas. This was the sixth film DiCaprio partnered with Scorsese to act in. Overall, the film was worth the watch especially if you are a Scorsese or DiCaprio fan. It shares a story full of love, hurt, pain, and guilt along with a large example of how American Tribes were taken advantage of. Personally, I think the runtime could’ve been cut down at least an hour, but it was still worth the watch.
