There is a new competition in the presidential election and his name is Robert J. Kennedy Jr. Robert announced his candidacy back on April 19, 2023. Robert was born in Washington D.C in 1954 he is currently the age of 69 years old. He has gone to Harvard University and the London School of Economics. His previous occupation was as an environmental lawyer. Roberts’ father, Robert J. Kennedy was. the former United States Attorney General until he was assassinated in 1968.  Robert was a former Democrat until he announced in a Philadelphia speech that he would be unaffiliated with the parties in his run for president. Robert has earned his nickname “RFK” and has much support among both parties. Donald Trump has even claimed that he likes RFK. Trump and the current president of the United States, Joe Biden are in the lead for their parties; they have declared that RFK might spoil their run in the nominations. 

Robert Kennedy heavily influenced his anti-vaccine campaigns with his candidacies campaign. Roberts’ uncle John F. Kennedy was the former president of the United States. Kennedy also talked about the mass shooting epidemic he believed something needed to be done but he also talked in speeches that he would not take people’s guns away he respects the 2nd amendment in the Constitution, and he also stated he believes in gun control. We have conducted interviews with students who have the opportunity to vote in the next election. We asked their opinion on the independent candidate which they have asked to remain anonymous. Every student was 18 and a senior at Palisade High School. “I like many of his concepts, to be honest, maybe he is the change America needs” said student 1. “His anti-vaccine campaign wasn’t something I agree with. My family are strong believers in the 2nd amendment at least he has that quality” said student 2. Will RFK have enough supporters to win him the presidency? We will find out in the run in 2024.
