Palisade Junior, Kyra Birch, is the female Athlete of the Week brought to you by Palisade Dino Mart. Kyra is a three sport athlete, which is a huge commitment. Kyra does volleyball, basketball, track, and softball. In volleyball she is an outside hitter and back row. She has been playing volleyball for about 9 years. “I loved trying all sports as a kid, and my moms favorite sport was volleyball. I fell in love with it as I played it more and more,” said Kyra. She was asked how she feels the season is going so far. Kyra said, “I feel that the season is going super well so far; we are 6-1 and have high goals for this season. We are still growing as a team and getting better each day, but we are off to a great start.” Kyra shared her love for the sport and said, “I love the team aspect of the sport and how it brings everyone together on the court because we are all playing for each other. I love the competitiveness and the adrenaline that comes with the game as well.”

Kyra has other activities that she enjoys outside of school. “Outside of school I love playing basketball, softball, volleyball, and running track,” she said. Sports are a big part of her life. As an athlete and high school student, Kyra couldn’t do it all on her own. “My biggest inspiration is my mom because she’s inspired me to always keep my head up. She has always been so encouraging to me and has shown me endless support through everything.” Kyra was asked what her greatest accomplishments are. “One of my greatest accomplishments was overcoming major reconstructive knee surgery my sophomore year. Another one of my greatest accomplishments was having the honor of being selected for All-Conference in all three sports as a freshman, and going to state in volleyball and track.” Kyra’s advice that she would give to an incoming freshman athlete is: “Always work hard and be super encouraging to others. Putting yourself out there as a vocal leader will not only make you a better player, but help the others around you as well.” Congrats Kyra on Athlete of the Week!

Hey guys! My name is Joey and I am a Junior this year. This is my third year being a part of the Palisade Paw Post and my second year as advertising manager. A little bit about myself is that I love to be outside, either paddleboarding, hiking, or enjoying the sunset. I also teach and play tennis. My number one goal in life is to devote myself more and more to our Lord Jesus Christ. I am excited for another great year in the Palisade Paw Post!
