Kicking Off The Year With Vibrant Hues

Our favorite activity to kick off the year was an incredible success, leaving our spirits and white tees colorful. The color dance is the star of the first few weeks of school and is our students’ favorite way to kick off the year. The dance is traditionally held on the first Friday of the school year at the Palisade bus loops from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm. The amazing event was put on by our incredible Palisade High School Student Council but was specifically led by five amazing students: William Neese, Laurna Lancaster, Izzy Meyer, Morgan Montgomery, and Ava Pearson. These students, as well as the rest of our StuCo team were in charge of planning the dance, buying the color, providing the sound system, selling tickets, running, and setting up the dance. William Neese was one of the main producers of this dance, going into his junior year and his second year of StuCo as the SBA Treasurer for the 2023-2024 school year. “This color dance was an amazing success. We sold a lot of tickets to the student body this year which was incredible. We estimated around 500 tickets sold, which is amazing.” The money raised from this event goes back to our student council team to fund the rest of our fun filled school spirit events and activities.

Another tradition of the color dance is the slip and slides, for a little cool-off after a long night of jumping around and dancing. This year, our StuCo team was able to provide name-brand slip-and-slides instead of our regular tarps and soap version, which the students seemed to love and talk about following the dance. Another common praise from students this year was the music selection. After receiving and reviewing feedback from our student body, three juniors were chosen to create a more student-oriented playlist. Christian Mullaney, Andrew Kirschenmann, and Joseph Zambranotrevino were in charge of this playlist. Zambranotrevino even DJ’d the dance for the entire night. This decision kept our students dancing and screaming lyrics throughout the night, which kept up our spirited Bulldog energy. Thank you so much to our StuCo team for setting up this dance, and all students who came and made the night an exceptional start of the year. Good luck this year, and go Bulldogs!
