The Palisade Paw Post is proud to announce this week’s female Athlete of the Week, Haley Ammons, presented to you by the Palisade Dino Mart. Ammons is a senior tennis player for the Central and Palisade combined tennis team and plays in the number two singles position. The impact that Ammons has on the team and the hard work and dedication that she displays on the team whether it’s a practice or a match, has made her a standout athlete.
The drive that Ammons demonstrates on the tennis court doesn’t go unnoticed. Her commitment to show up everyday and to improve herself is astounding to the rest of the team and coaches. Head coach Jordyn Morrow emphasizes the commitment that she has seen in Ammons this season and comments, “She has been a great example of what consistent effort and commitment can achieve. She now has several wins under her belt, and her game continues to improve as a direct result of her dedication and hard work.”
Tennis has always been a pillar in her life, and it continues to have a meaningful impact on her to this day. Ammons has played tennis for about five to six years now, and when asked what first inspired her to play she comments, “I played once at summer camp when I was really young and really enjoyed it. Years later, my whole family started playing so I figured I would too.” When asked what she loves most about the sport, Ammons also states, “My favorite thing about tennis is the fact that it’s challenging in both mental and physical ways. It is also a lifelong sport and a really great way to have friends and build a community.”
The impact that tennis has had on Ammons is just as big as the impact that she has had on the tennis team. Her positive energy and strong energy is always making an impact. Congratulations to Haley Ammons for receiving Athlete of the Week!
