The Palisade Paw Post is proud to present one of this week’s Male Athletes of the Week, Junior Hunter Shipp, representing the Palisade High School football team. Our Athletes of the Week are brought to you by the Palisade Dino Mart.
Shipp has been playing as an offensive and defensive lineman all of his high school career thus far. He sports number 52, stands 5 feet 11 inches tall, and weighs in at 225 pounds.
For this season, Shipp had a total of 31 tackles, ten solo tackles, and a total of two fumble recoveries. Furthermore, Shipp was honored as First-Team All-Conference for the Western Slope League.
It is clear that Shipp is entirely dedicated to his athletic career, having seen great successes this season. When honored as Athlete of the Week, the athlete is selected by their coach for being an outstanding teammate, leader, and high performer in their chosen sport. When asked why Shipp felt like he deserved to be the Athlete of the Week he said, “I feel that I am a hard worker and I give a lot of effort into my sport.”
This year, Shipp and his teammates saw an incredibly successful season, making it all the way to the Semifinals of the Playoffs round. One crucial aspect of being a high-performance athlete is being able to learn from mistakes and continue to grow from each loss. “ I feel like I performed really well in our last playoff game, and especially our team did super well, and we all put our best efforts into the game,” Shipp reflects.
But overall, congratulations to this week’s Athlete of the Week, Hunter Shipp.
