Palisade Senior, Ronny Cordova, is the male Athlete of the Week brought to you by Palisade Dino Mart. Cordova plays for the Varsity soccer team as center attacking midfielder (#7). He has been playing on the Palisade soccer team since his sophomore year, but has been playing the game for since he was 7 years old. Result wise, Cordova wishes the season was better but he believes the team is strong. “We’ve had a lot of fun,” he says, “and we’ve had our ups and downs, but I think we’re going to play in games we can get a few wins in.” Cordova’s personal goal for this season is to grow as an athlete and a person and he believes his coaches around him and having the team he’s been with for all these years have done just that. Cordova hopes to play college soccer, but the backup plan is to play recreational. His favorite game this season was against Eagle Valley which happened less than a week ago. “We scored an 80th minute winner, and I scored it. I was really happy and it was the first goal of the season. It was really fun.” Cordova’s biggest inspiration is his Grandpa outside of soccer, but his biggest inspiration on the soccer team is, “my boy Samuel Urdaneta. He works his ass off and I don’t see someone hustle as much as him.” Cordova’s advice for any incoming freshman looking to play soccer is, “Go for it. We’ve had our ups and downs but as a community it’s just so fun to be involved in team dinners with the guys, practice, just having a laugh with everyone. Just go for it, and don’t be afraid of failing.” Congratulations Ronny Cordova on Athlete of the Week!
