Palisade Sophomore, Mady Bavor, is the Female Athlete of Week brought to you by Palisade Dino Mart. Bavor plays basketball where she is a post. Bavor is on the Palisade Girls Varsity Basketball team and has been since her freshman year, which is what Bavor would claim as her biggest accomplishment. Bavor has been playing basketball since 2nd grade. While Bavor can’t quite recall what first sparked her love for basketball, she can most definitely recollect what continues to bring her to the sport. “Enjoying the game and realizing how fun it is makes me want to play even more.”
Bavor has been dominating this season with an average of nine points per game and three steals per game. During the girls varsity game against Grand Junction High School on February the 11th, Bavor had 12 points and five steals, leading her team with a win, 41-34. Bavor helps lead the team with her defense skills and determination. While growing within her sport and succeeding is important for Bavor, growing her team bond is just as important.
“My favorite thing about basketball is being able to play with my friends and make new ones, as well as making better and stronger relationships.”
With the help of her teammates and those around her, Bavor is encouraged to continue what she loves to do and to move forward with resilience. Family plays a big role in Bavor’s basketball career, with support from her dad, Don Bavor, as head coach, providing her with trust and positivity. Bavor is also greatly motivated by her mom.
“My mom is my biggest inspiration because she always tells me to keep my head up and to stay positive through the hard things in life.”
Bavor’s strong performance on the court, combined with the support of her family, drives her to continue succeeding. Her dedication and love for basketball makes her a standout player with a bright future ahead. Congratulations, Mady Bavor, for receiving Female Athlete of the Week!
