Palisade Senior, Delaney Wright, is the Female Athlete of the week brought to you by Palisade Dino Mart. Wright is on the Palisade Girls Varsity basketball team, where she plays forward position as a starter. Wright has been motivated to play basketball by her family. “I have been playing for eight or nine years. My sister had played basketball when I was younger and my mom wanted to keep me active as a kid.” Wright has committed a lot of her own time to basketball, which has not only produced personal growth, but growth within the team as well. “I would say I bring rebounds to the team,” stated Wright.
Wright really enjoys the sport she does, and has come to love and appreciate the aspect of basketball. “My favorite thing about basketball is playing with all of my teammates and having fun,” stated Wright. Not only does she enjoy her sport and the camaraderie that comes with it, but Wright is also motivated by her biggest inspiration, which is her family. “My family has always supported and they have been there for me and have inspired me to do whatever I want, as well as encouraged the best for me.” Wright’s family plays a huge role in her sport’s journey because they inspire her to do the things she loves and continue to be a great player.
Throughout her basketball career, Wright has achieved in many ways. “My biggest accomplishment in basketball was receiving All-Conference in my Junior year.” Wright is very proud of the improvement she has made through the years and learning new things along the way. Her commitment to the sport and her team is what makes her the great athlete she is today. Congratulations Delaney Wright on Athlete of the week!
