As the school year kicks off Cross country , runners return to the trails ready to build endurance, speed, and confidence. With summer training behind them, the team shifts into full-season mode, preparing for a packed schedule of meets and invitationals. Practices are already in full swing. Each day includes distance runs, interval workouts, strength training, and stretching routines. Coaches emphasize pacing, mental toughness, and consistency that are important in every race. Whether it’s hill repeats or tempo runs, every workout pushes the team closer to race shape. Junior Chase Edmonds states “Our biggest goal this year is bringing the whole team to state.” Edmonds has been running in cross country for three years now. He states, “My favorite thing about Cross Country is the environment where everyone is there to compete no matter the skill level.” The roster includes a mix of experienced upperclassmen as well as new runners eager to compete. Veterans help set the tone, showing newer athletes how to train smart and stay motivated. The team atmosphere stays supportive but competitive, with everyone aiming to improve their times and contribute to the team’s overall success. The first meet is just around the corner on August 23rd, and preparations continue. Runners study the courses, plan their race strategies, and stay focused on personal goals. The team knows that early-season meets are just the beginning, and they’re building toward peak performance later in the season on August 23rd . Even before the first starting gun sounds, Palisade’s cross country team shows discipline, unity, and drive. With each practice, the group grows stronger and more confident. As the season begins, all signs point to a determined team ready to leave their mark on the course.

Dallas Scarrow, Staff Writer
Yo, I’m Dallas. This is my first year writing for Palisade. I enjoy bull riding, writing and math. When I’m not writing or riding, you can find me watching football or baseball games. I’m excited to start sending out stories for Palisade and let everyone know more about the school. I hope soon enough to start photography for the papers. I can’t wait to start writing for you all!

Brielle Sorensen, Co-Editor in Chief
Sup, I’m Brielle Sorensen! I am a senior and this is my third year working with the Palisade Paw Post. I am this year’s co-editor in Chief. Some of my hobbies include reading classic novels, watching and analyzing movies (horror is my favorite genre), hiking, being outdoors, running, listening to music, and hanging out with my friends and family. I’m involved in many things here at Palisade including Cross Country, NHS and of course the Paw Post. Here’s to a great year!
