Palisade High School has welcomed and is excited to introduce a new Social Studies teacher who is outgoing and exciting. Her name is Ali Schmalz and teaches World Studies, AP Human Geography, and CCP at Palisade. Schmalz states that she was going to continue her teaching career in Arizona but found an opportunity to work at Palisade High School. She states, “I almost moved to Arizona, but decided to apply at Palisade because there was an open position early this summer. It ended up working out and I am so thankful it did! I believe that everything happens for a reason, so I am glad it worked out that I got to be a part of the Palisade High School teaching team!”
Schmalz started her teaching career by switching during her sophomore year in college, she then went on to student-teaching and then spent her first year teaching sixth through eighth at Independence Academy. She says, “I chose to get into education when I was in my sophomore year in college. Before then, I thought about nursing and business, but decided those paths wouldn’t work for me.” Schmalz also says that she feels that Palisade High School is like a big family and loves the aspect of being a team, likes that everyone at Palisade is working for the collective goods of the students and being able to support them as much as they can.
Some of Schmalz’s hobbies are playing pickleball and going out to the gym. She states, “…It is how to relieve stress and what a lot of my friends and I do together.”
Welcome! Ms. Schmalz to the family. Hope you have an amazing and exciting first school year. Let the fun begin!
