Track Season is on the Path to a Great Season
Both Palisade’s J.V. and Varsity Track and Field teams are on their way to great seasons. It’s only a few weeks in, but the team has been seeming to be doing incredibly well.
Hank DeFord, a freshman at Palisade and a distance runner for the track and field team said, “I’ve only been running since the beginning of the season, but so far it’s been great and fun. It’s a really good and supportive team. The distance team is all close, but we’re also really chill with everybody else. There’s been some J.V. meets and Varsity meets and I’ve been going to both since I’m a freshman, but I also am kind of fast. Since I run distance the practices are kind of long and hard, but it’s still worth it in the end. We usually run a lot at practice, like 5-6 miles a practice, and sometimes we’ll do long runs. We also do conditioning at Ralph Stocker Stadium, so we practice over there on their track. We’re usually there like once a week though, most of the time we practice back behind the school on the canal roads. I’m excited to keep running the rest of the season and try to make it to state even though it’s going to be hard. Caleb Moore, another freshman and a thrower for the track and field team said, “I do shot put, discus, and jumping. I’ve been doing this all for quite a while and also did it at my old school. The season has been going pretty well. The practices are great and have been fun to attend, and I’m glad I’m a part of the team.”
It seems the track and field season is already off to a great start!
