Keyton Young after winning a match

Last Saturday, December 10th the Palisade High School boys’ varsity wrestling team traveled to Delta High School to compete in a tournament. The long day started at 8:30 am when the boys geared up getting ready for the many matches they would wrestle. Supporters from all around came to watch our Bulldogs as they powered through the day. Teagan Young placed third in the 106 weight class, winning three out of four of his matches. Keyton Young placed first in the 138 weight class winning all four of his matches. The boys who did not place were, junior Lane Holland wrestling 157, junior Trevin Brannon wrestling 165, senior James Arias wrestling 190, freshman Tobyn Trottier wrestling 215, and junior Angelo Gurente wrestling 285. Lane Holland, a Junior said “honestly I think we could have done better, but I don’t think everyone was as focused as they should have been. I think I could have worked on connecting more moves together. As a team, we could have worked on our attitude, and gotten mentally prepared for their matches.” Senior Keyton Young who took first place in the 138 weight class was asked how he felt he did when wrestling, he responded with “I think I wrestled ok but slow, I am hoping I can wrestle better this week at the warrior classic to win it this year.” The third place finisher for the 106 weight class Teagan Young “ thinks he did pretty well and wrestled to his full potential. My favorite part of the day was when I wrestled the number one seeded kid in the state, and he did not pin me.” Unfortunately, Teagan came up short but he didn’t get pinned. Come support your Bulldog wrestlers at Central this Friday and Saturday.
