The Riverside Educational Center provides structured tutoring and diverse extracurricular activities during after-school hours for students in grades 1-12 to improve academic achievement. Riverside Educational Center is also known as REC. The tutoring program is coming to Palisade; REC has made a partnership with Mesa County Valley School District 51, REC, and has expanded to a total of 15 tutoring sites serving more than 750 students. They have very good tutors who want to help you and know the struggles that you have gone through so they would do anything to help you achieve your goals. REC gives you an outlet in the community to seek when you need educational assistance, mentoring from peers and adults, or just simply an enriching activity. REC also does many more activities outside of school like camping, rafting, fishing, and more. They don’t just do after-school tutoring but they want to be a part of your life. They want to be there every step of the way and show you it’s possible and that you’re not alone. REC can help you discover and explore new interests, topics, and activities along with communication and teamwork skills. When asked Edgar Serna about what he thought about REC he said “I’ve been going to REC for almost four years and I’m going to return when it starts. He would recommend it to you guys because it has helped him turn in late assignments and get his grades up”. When asked what his favorite thing about rec was he said “the tutors and the outside school activities they provide because they are a great experience and he would’ve never tried them out if it wasn’t for REC”. I have gone to REC for eight years and I would recommend it to everyone who wants to see you achieve your goals. They want to help you as much as they can. They have this summer program and it is about a month long and it’s really fun to do. They take you hiking, rafting, and camping and they take you to the hot springs as well. You should definitely do it because you will always remember it and it’s an awesome experience. You will make great friends and good connections with the tutors. Overall REC is a great program, a safe place for everyone and they help you with your goals. This Monday will be the first day to register for REC.
