Starting in early 2025, tensions between the United States and Venezuela rose, starting with strikes against boats in the Caribbean, which according to NPR, the United States has stated that they were carrying drugs, which came from Venezuela. The most deadly of these incidents occurred on September 2nd, 2025, which ended the lives of 11 people, who were all aboard the boat at the time of the strike. There were 2 other boats that were destroyed by the strikes.
Venezuelan President Nicolàs Maduro, who has been in office since March 2013 and is wanted for $50,000,000 by the United States Government. This amount is 25 Million dollars more than Osama Bin Laden, who was behind the 9/11 attacks. This conflict has led to many Venezuelans training for a war with the United States, and the President of Venezuela threatening “Total Mobilization,” which is where the entire country goes to war, even the civilians. Maduro recently also threatened to declare a “State of Emergency,” according to The Guardian, which gives the government power to allow policies that they regularly would not be able to. In September, the Trump Administration sent eight warships and a submarine to the Southern Caribbean, which many from Venezuela and the United States fear could be used for an invasion, according to France 24. As of the time of writing this story, nothing has come from this.
