Palisade Boys Soccer Faces Harsh 4-0 Loss against Grand Junction Tigers this last Tuesday. As the Bulldogs geared up to face the Tigers Tuesday evening at Grand Junction’s brand new field, Palisade was hunting for a win against Grand Junction as every previous matchups against the Tigers, Palisade has come up short every time. With Palisade hungry to prove themselves against Grand Junction, morale was high. With the whistle signaling the start of the first half the Tigers came out hard upon the kick off finding space in between the Bulldogs midfield and defense. It wasn’t until shortly after that the Tigers found a lapse in the Bulldogs formation and scored with a bullet to the far post putting the Tigers up barely ten minutes into the game. For the rest of the first half the Tigers found success in the offense and scored two more goals before the ref signals the end of the first half. Palisade starts the second half with some more intensity in their game. The second half remained scoreless for a while until a penalty kick was given and put the Tigers up 4-0. Junior Talon DeSpain felt that overall loss was because of “Our attitude due to the reason of us conceding early,” When asked about how the team can be better prepared in the future DeSpain commented, “We need to play at the level we know we can play at”. With a harsh loss at the Tigers home field, this leaves Bulldogs in a winning drought leading many to wonder “what’s next” for Palisade’s soccer team. As they gear up to play Fruita Monument, many are hopeful for a win against the Wildcats.
