Student of the week is Gavin Ausband, a junior at Palisade High School for our Futures program! Many people aspire to have a job that helps our community and Ausband is in the Futures firefighter program. Ausband says, “Helping people and doing something that has a direct impact on my community.” This demonstrates Ausband’s persistence of why he wants to become a firefighter and why he continues doing the Futures program. A determined mindset is what is needed for a challenging job like a firefighter. Ausband states, “ It was hard, there was some rough physical training and studying but overall it was a rewarding experience. I learned and got to do many things that most people will never get to do.” This truly highlights why Ausband was chosen for Student of the Week considering his determination and his mindset to hard training but showing a positive and tough mindset. Ausband also says “I’ve always wanted to become a firefighter ever since I was a kid so when I had the opportunity in high school I had to take that opportunity.” This supports how the Futures program brought Ausband’s childhood inspiration to life and helps him grow each step closer to becoming that firefighter he wants to become. “If you’re someone who cares for people and wants to help others then you’re mostly there just don’t doubt yourself, work hard and strive to be better,” comments Ausband. Junior Gavin Ausband was chosen to be Student of the Week because of his motivational mindset and his hard going strive to become a helpful firefighter to his community.
