The Counselors Corner is an area in the counseling office where students and parents can go to get needed information about the school schedule, buses, important dates, etc. This is tremendously helpful because it gives students the opportunity to find things out about Palisade without having to consult a teacher or other staff member. School counselor and creator of the Counselors Corner Kelsie Steves says, “The Counselor’s corner is a place where we can give you guys resources to be successful whether it’s Seniors with college applications, Juniors with an SAT, or different resources around that can help you guys navigate the school better.” The Counselors Corner improves Palisade because it gives students the chance to be independent and explore possible colleges and career paths.
At Palisade High School, the Counselors Corner is significant because teachers can be busy often and unable to give you the attention and advice you are looking for. Steves continues to say, “I think it helps because it gives kids a place to look when they don’t know where to go next, and gives them ideas of where they can integrate themselves and help navigate different futures.” The counselors corner is a crucial part of Palisade because it allows students to explore more options for their futures and keep a wide variety of opportunities, as well as new ways of experiencing high school. With Seniors now going to college and getting out into the real world just in general, the Counselors Corner can give them a sense of security that they have options and don’t need to decide right away.
