On the 23rd of August, there was a tragic shooting and many disturbances at the Sam’s Club and Sprouts on Rimrock. A person was found at the Sam’s Club parking lot with a gunshot wound to the chest. The suspect fled and was later found by the police in the Mesa Mall parking lot. The suspect and police were in a high-speed chase through the Target parking lot. Two suspects are in prison after hitting a tree and possibly a police car.
Fidel Perales, a Senior at Palisade High School, is commonly at Sonic and said the following when we asked him if he would keep going there regularly: “I’m not sure if I wanna go back there.” When Perales said this it explained to us that people feel uncomfortable going back to a place they love after this disturbing event happened. Perales also said “ I don’t want to put myself in danger for that” when I asked him why he didn’t feel safe going to Sonic after what happened. When Perales said this it proved that students or people do not feel safe and do not want to risk their lives just to enjoy a late night treat. Lastly Perales said “ The shooting that kinda throws me off a bit” it shows that if he wants to go back to Sonic he will probably think twice about it before going. In conclusion students should think twice about their safety before going back to Sonic.
