The Palisade Paw Post is pleased to announce this week’s Male Student of the Week: Sophomore Jack Kroeker. Kroeker is an avid golfer, absolute shredder on the slopes, and a ray of sunshine.
Out of all her amazing students, History teacher Ms. Burbach chose Kroeker as the one who stood out the most, validating his title as SOTW. “I was thinking of students that stood, not just awesome academically, but those who try really hard, have good personalities, and light up the room in one way or another. Jack really stood out. He works his little tail off. He’s hilarious and a good person to be around,” Burbach explains.
Kroeker in his Ms. Burbach’s U.S. History class. The workload is moderate, and the fun is extreme with Kroeker in the room. “He always has something funny to say.” To which Kroeker laughs, “Sounds about right.”
Engaged and amusing are understatements to describe Kroeker. “He’s not conventionally one of those students that nails everything but he works really hard and it pays off,” expresses Burbach. Additionally, Kroeker’s ability to collaborate with classmates is impressive. Recently, his U.S. history class was assigned a group project with few requirements, allowing for complete creative freedom. Kroeker and his peers developed a puppet show about Bill Clinton. Burbach reflects, “No other kid would produce this. This guy’s awesome!”
Although it may seem like it, Kroeker isn’t all about fun and games. He values empathy and definitely demonstrates that during the school day. “One time, I got really mad at the class and he apologized afterwards. It was nothing he did but it just meant a lot to me. He noticed I was upset and took ownership for that. He didn’t need to, and that interaction made his character stand out a lot,” Burbach says.
Plain and simple, Kroeker accepts his title with four words, “I feel very happy.” Congratulations to Jack Kroeker for winning Student of the Week! Keep spreading positivity!
