One weekend, one chapter, and several victories.
The 21st-23rd of April, FBLA’s four chapters of District 51 came together to compete in state at Denver colorado. Twenty four students from Palisade High School attended state and had a blast. In the span of the three day event, students stayed at the Gaylord Rockies hotel located in Aurora Colorado. Students would compete in their event and attend workshops two out of the three days attended. The third day was the closing ceremony where awards, state officers and national qualifying students would be announced and celebrated. Our school’s chapter won the Peak 6 award, the highest level attainable for chapters. Our school’s chapter also had six students qualify top ten at state. Alivia Nicodemus, a freshman at Palisade High School, placed first in state for intro to FBLA. Ian Robinson and Leo Zhu placed 5th in Introduction to Programming, Walter Hoffman placed 9th in Coding and Programming, Hailey Shackelford placed 6th in Help Desk and Aspen Johnson placed 8th in Word Processing. Alivia Nicodemus and Genevieve Seymour were awarded the star member award. Aspen Johnson, Palisade’s FBLA chapter president, has been announced as the new district state officer for District 9. Johnson has been the first state officer to be elected in over 20 years in our school’s chapter. This is a very important milestone for our chapter’s FBLA, this brings new opportunities and ways to interact with Colorado FBLA in ways we never have before. This year’s competition broke records and made history as Alivia Nicodemus won first place in her category as a freshman which is very uncommon. We congratulated Nicodemus for her hard work to accomplish such achievements. While interviewing Nicodemus this is what she had to share about her experience being in FBLA “ FBLA has taught me better communication skills and leadership roles, I definitely learned more about myself through FBLA and it’s introduced me to so many new opportunities”. We congratulate our hardworking bulldogs for competing at state and we wish best of luck to the bulldogs who made it to nationals that will take place this June in Anaheim, California!
