Election season is always stressful, but it’s even more stressful for the only competition. Sophomores Addison Pinnt and Alexis Lopez ran against each other for SBA Secretary, the only position that was being competed for by two different candidates. They both campaigned for this role and placed posters around Palisade High School persuading students to vote for them. On Friday, March 7th, both candidates presented a speech during the morning announcements, kindly asking students to consider them on the ballot.
Both candidates are heavily involved in and out of Palisade High School. Sophomore Addison Pinnt, a STUCO member since her freshman year, ran for Sophomore Class Secretary but lost, and was hopeful to earn the win this time. Pinnt participates in Palisade’s Chapter of Create for Kids, an organization that provides cards and gifts to hospitalized children, National Honors Society, and is a competitive figure skater.
“I realized how much I love STUCO and how much the community has impacted me, and I want to have a positive impact on the rest of STUCO.” Pinnt commented, on her passion during her two years in Palisade’s STUCO. Pinnt’s campaign goal was clear, with her stating: “My entire campaign is based on more student body participation… when I was doing Dogs on Ice, it happened to fall directly during the Sounds of the Season concert, and it took away a lot of participation from both events, and in the future I want to make sure it’s communicated so those type of conflicts never happen again.” Pinnt hoped that her relatability as a student at Palisade would gain votes during election day. “I like making people feel included… I know what it’s like to come into high schools and not feel like you’re very included.” She also made sure to promote this interest during her speech, featured on the morning announcements.
Addison Pinnt won the election, and will be seen as the 2025/2026 SBA Secretary. Congrats Addi on your win, and we look forward to great things this next year!
