Many decisions that President Trump has agreed with since he stepped into office have made people’s blood boil, but after hearing of the potential shut down of the Department of Education, does more than just upset Americans. Trump’s Secretary Linda McMahon has already started taking consecutive action to shutter department programs that are not protected by law. If Trump and McMahon win this, it could mean no more school for a lot of people.
President Trump has already taken away two critical applications related to student loan forgiveness and repayment which is throwing the already troubled federal student loan system into greater turmoil. Now, Linda McMahon is trying to target not just colleagues, but schools in general as well.
Underfunding can lead and affect the whole school system and if most kids will be able to go to school or not. Junior Paulina Cervantes-Perez says, “Taking away fundings for schools is like taking away students’ freedom of going to school and wouldn’t be fair in the slightest to families with less money.” Perez also states, “Going to school should be given to everyone so kids can get an education, education is important and no one should have that taken away from them.”
Nothing is official or has been passed but President Trump and especially Secretary Linda McMahon have been fighting hard for underfunding schools in the US to happen.
