This week, Palisade Paw Post is pleased to announce our female student of the week, who is an exceptional band member, the National Honor Society vice president, and most importantly, a kind, generous, and hardworking student. Junior Katelyn Spalding is this week’s example of what it takes to be a Bulldog leader. Spalding has very much earned this award, and was strongly recommended by Mr. Kennedy.
Spalding can be found in many areas of the Bulldog community, whether it is offering a helping hand in NHS, leading the saxophones in the marching band and wind ensemble, or excelling in a classroom academically. She also paints in her free time. Spalding spoke on subjects she enjoys, stating, “I really love writing…I think that either science or comp is my favorite.” Given her effort in and outside of school, she plans on going far in the future, saying, “I’m going to look into University of Maine, or somewhere in Colorado still, and I’m going to try to go into the medical field.”
Spalding’s attempts have not gone unnoticed by social studies teacher, NHS advisor, and long-time staff member at Palisade, Mr. Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy was very excited when he had learned that Spalding had won this award. “I have seen this student grow so much in the last two or three years.” Mr. Kennedy stated. “She takes on responsibility.. she’s nice, she’s kind, she’s always doing everything with a smile and joy.” Mr. Kennedy also spoke on her role as the vice president of NHS. “She might be one of the best vice president’s we’ve ever had…she keeps things organized, we give her lots of responsibility and she just takes it on.”
Spalding’s motivated, determined, and responsible nature is something that we should all look up to as students of PHS. She is a shining role model and represents our school and our Bulldog community with integrity. Be sure to check out our male student of the week and past students of the week for other examples of outstanding Bulldogs. Congrats Katelyn Spalding on Student of the Week!
