On February 7th through the 8th, the Palisade High School boys wrestling team made their way to the Regional competition to showcase their skill for wrestling, and work their way to State. Our wrestlers traveled to Windsor, to compete at Windsor High School. Palisade had a very successful run, being crowned third overall and having seven athletes qualify for the State competition.
The wrestling team has made a lot of memories and have further developed their skills along with strengthening their momentum. This has been a memorable season for both the teammates and coaches. Sophomore Kadin Mulford has been wrestling all of his life, which is evident every time he takes to the mat. Mulford works hard and uses every lesson that has been earned this season to his advantage. Mulford took first place in his weight class at the Regional tournament.
“I prepared for Regionals with a lot of training of doing weights and just wrestling a lot and also had mindset training.” Mulford is in the 132 weight class, and has been wrestling for Palisade both years that he has been here at Palisade High School.
“As a team we will be fixing all of the tiny tweaks and faults so that we can be sure that when going out there we will be playing one hundred percent to the best of our abilities,” states Mulford.
Junior Teagan Young has been wrestling for ten years and has been growing in his wrestling career with each year that he goes out onto the wrestling mat. “I think that that biggest strength would have to be my persistence.” Young wrestles in the 120 weight class, and has been wrestling for Palisade all three years of his high school career. Young has shown his exceptional performance every time he goes out to wrestle and took first place in his weight class at the Regional Tournament.
The wrestlers will keep pushing and working so that they get their best results at their State tournament. Congratulations Bulldogs on the wonderful wrestling season and everyone at Palisade High School wishes the best luck to you all as you make your way to State!
