Three fires set a blaze in California all three starting in one day: the Palisade fire, the Eaton Fire, and the Hughes fire. What people thought was a little inconvenience turned into a big problem. On January 7th, 2025 around 10:30 am (pst) the Palisades in Los Angeles, California set ablaze. Multiple people saw and noticed the fire and reported it to the Los Angeles fire department. What turned into a small flame immersed into one of the biggest fires California has ever seen, burning roughly 23,443 thousand acres in the Palisades. The fire burned 6,662 houses so far with 890 being slightly destroyed and 5,772 have been totally destroyed. What was a small fire turned into a big nightmare for the California firefighters as there are now firefighters coming from all parts of the USA and even some from Canada and Mexico trying to help put out these fires as it is still only 70% contained. As of January 7th, another fire in California set a blaze. CAL fire, the Fire Department in California, named it the Easton fire and has currently burned approximately 14,000 acres with the containment being 95%. Hughes fire, the third fire to start in California on January 7th, burned approximately 10,396 acres of land. Cade Carter, a Junior here at Palisade stated, “these might be one of the worst fires in America’s history.” Carter is part of the fire academy, a class we offer here at Palisade. Carter also stated, “I think things are a bit different now. It seems like my chief is always gone now that the fires have started.” We hope the best for California residents to stay safe during these heated times.

Dallas Scarrow, Staff Writer
Yo, I’m Dallas. This is my first year writing for Palisade. I enjoy bull riding, writing and math. When I'm not writing or riding, you can find me watching football or baseball games. I'm excited to start sending out stories for Palisade and let everyone know more about the school. I hope soon enough to start photography for the papers. I can't wait to start writing for you all!
