On December fourth and fifth the Palisade Bulldogs wrestling team had their first away meet in Moab, Utah and here at Palisade High School. The wrestling teams are hosting multiple matches through the men and women’s districts. The Palisade women’s division is the whole county while the men’s division is strictly Palisade. Vernon Belyeu, a freshman wrestler here at Palisade commented, “These matches all went pretty good. I know we gave up a couple mid weight and heavyweight but overall it all went pretty good.” He also stated, “I believe our season is gonna go pretty good this year as we have some pretty good people on our team and we have been putting in the work.” Belyeu plays multiple sports here at Palisade including football and wrestling. Belyeu wrestled Thursday night, winning his duel. Belyeu stated, “I believe I did pretty good Thursday night.” Our Palisade Bulldogs put in hours of training and hard work to get to this point, having multiple great matches throughout the night. Even with the losses, they took it well and are going to learn from it as it is just the start of their season. Belyeu added, “we have all put in pretty hard work. I know the girls division has done the same.” This showed Thursday night during their matches. This team has pride, dedication and is ready to win. Belyeu claimed, “our biggest strength is how much dedication we all have to the sport and our team aspects.” We can’t wait to see what the season has in store for our Bulldogs!!
