Touchdown! Is what the Palisade Bulldogs heard most of the night coming from the referees in a blowout game against the Rifle Bears. The Bulldogs faced the Rifle Bears in a grueling match this past Friday October 12th. The Bulldogs showed their true willpower, ending the game with the score being 48-0, now making the Bulldogs overall 5-2. The Bulldogs are doing incredibly well as opposed to last year with the team ending with a record of 3-7. The Bulldog’s team is being led by their head coach, Joe Ramunno. Ramunno has been coaching for the Bulldogs for 23 years. Sophomore Wyatt Fleming states, “ We worked really hard this year, and based on how we did last year, we are really just looking to get as many wins as possible, and beating Rifle who made it to the state championship last year for 2A, was a really good win for us. The win also just really boosted our confidence.” This is Fleming’s fourth year playing football. Fleming also mentions, “ I definitely think that having Cade Carter, and Caleb Johnson is definitely a big help for us. They are both really great running backs, and that definitely was our biggest strength during the game.” The Bulldogs have worked hard creating a great team, and in the process creating a great bond. It is apparent that the Bulldogs have a strong team, and even so they have an even stronger bond with each other. Junior Cade Carter states, “ We were making good plays and were making things happen. We didn’t let Rifle get into the red zone.” Carter also mentions, “ I would say that our biggest strength, especially offensively, is our speed. Defensively our biggest strength is our defensive line, our guys do a good job up front holding the trenches and not letting anything penetrate.” Carter has been playing football for around ten years, and has gotten better with each year. This year the Bulldogs have been giving it their all, seeing great results after each game. Congratulations to the Bulldog football team for your great results of your hard work, and the time and love you put into the game and into your fellow players. Good job Bulldogs!
