The Palisade volleyball team has achieved an immense amount of success this season, beating a variety of teams. On October 3rd, the Bulldogs maintained their killer victory streak, winning 3-0 against the Fruita Wildcats.
The Bulldogs established a quick lead over the Wildcats. The energy was fierce and contagious, on the court and in the student section. Chants from the cheerleaders, support from families, and signs made by students all encouraged the team to perform to the best of their abilities. The Wildcats struggled to match this energy, due to the lack of student support and united morale. The final score of the first set was 25-10.
In the second set, Fruita began to gain momentum. The Bulldogs were collectively focusing on limiting their errors. However, they slightly faltered in communication and finishing the rallies. Despite this, the set resulted in a 25-21 win.
Everyone in the gym knew the fate of the game. The Wildcats were scavenging to keep up. The Bulldogs would be victorious, thanks to their persistence and determination, not only in this game but previous matches and practices. These girls showcased exactly that, ending the final set with 25-20.
Team chemistry is an essential part of the success that the Bulldogs have been achieving. All of the Seniors on varsity really blaze the path to success. Senior Grace McAnany describes the game, “I think it went pretty well, the pink matches are always super exciting. It was on my birthday too, so that was super special. It was nice that everyone sang happy birthday to me at the end of the game.” McAnany felt the support from everyone in the gym, making that sweeter than the actual win.
