On September 28, the Palisade Bulldogs faced the Central Warriors in an epic rivalry football game. The Warriors and the Bulldogs have long been determined rivals against each other, putting in their absolute every year they go out onto the field to face each other. This year, the Bulldogs came out with the complete win. In the first quarter the Warriors were holding their guard well against the Bulldogs and both teams were putting up a good fight. In the following quarters the Bulldogs showed themselves determined to win, and finished the rest of the game with the leading amount of points each quarter. It was an amazing game, both teams showing each other the best of their abilities. But in the end the Bulldogs came out with the win, the score being 35-3. Every year the two teams have something else pushing them to win. The WarDog trophy is a trophy that the winning team, either Palisade or Central, earns after beating their opponent. This is a tradition that has been carried on through many years. Senior Samuel Chacon-Cruz, who plays nose tackle, states, “I feel like an empty void has been filled now that we have beaten Central. We worked hard, and knew that we were going to get the trophy back.” Chacon-Cruz is very thrilled to have beaten Central his last year of his high school career. Senior CJ Mullaney, who has been playing football for Palisade all four years of his high school career, states, “It’s a little more of a personal vendetta when we beat Central apart from any other team, because they are our local rivals, and the fact that we haven’t beaten them in the last three years.” Mullaney plays wide receiver, safety, and punter. The Bulldogs have been showing their grit, determination to win, and their hard work ethic all season long. Palisade High School is very thrilled to be seeing all of the amazing things that the team has accomplished this season. Make sure to come to more of Palisade’s football games, and support the team. Keep it up Bulldogs!
