On Saturday the 21st of September, the Palisade and Central combined boy’s tennis team had their senior night as well as a match against Vail at the Canyon View tennis courts. Unfortunately, the WarDogs lost the match against Vail, but they put up a good fight showing their true grit. This year the team will be losing two Seniors from Palisade, and four Seniors all together. The two Seniors from Palisade are Andrew Kirschenmann, and Canaan Ross,. Hank goes to Central High School, and Caleb is homeschooled. Canaan plays one singles and Andrew plays one doubles alongside his brother, Joseph Kirschenmann. Kirschenmann states, “ We started off horribly, but we locked in and had a crazy comeback.” Kirschenmann also mentions, “ Our team overall hasn’t done as well as previous years but throughout the season we have gotten stronger in our bonds as teammates and as tennis players in general.” Canaan Ross has been playing for the WarDogs all four years of his highschool career. Ross states, “ I have had a blast this last year of highschool tennis, and enjoyed getting to meet a ton of new people who will continue to carry on the WarDog team.” Canaan has enjoyed learning and growing in the sport of tennis, while playing for the WarDogs and also mentions, “ I am hoping to play in college either as a walk-on to whichever college I decide to go to, or even club.” Ross has made many wonderful memories with his fellow teammates and just the joy of playing the game. Ross states, “ The thing I will probably miss most is the bus nights and overnight trips with the team. No one trip was ever the same and we always had so much fun wherever we went on the trips.” Congratulations to the Seniors for all of their hard work and dedication these years of playing tennis. We are excited to see what you all hold in the future. Well done WarDogs!
