Last Tuesday, April 23rd, our boys faced the Durango Demons for their fifth to last game of the season. They took the win, ruling them with a score of 11-0. This allowed them to extend their record to 13-4-1. The boys had nine hits and only one error. “The game went pretty good, we used our off days well, we showed up and we played well behind Easton,” says Sophomore shortstop Hunter Howard. Junior Easton Embrey and Sophomore Dylon Larson both hit 1.000. Howard hit 0.667. Junior Ascher Morby and Sophomore Kian Kinslow both hit 0.500. Embrey and Howard both had two hits. Embrey also added four RBIs and a triple. Kinslow had one triple and two RBIs. Morby and Howard both had a double. Howard scored two runs, and Kinslow scored three. Sophomore Bladimir Valdivia had one stolen base and scored two runs. “The team played very well, I think this is one of the best games this month, everyone swung the bat, and everyone played defense,” says Howard. This was a steady game for the boys. In the first inning, they scored two runs, then in the third, they scored three, then in the fourth, they scored one, and to finish off the game, they put up five runs in the fifth. Kinslow and Sophomore Will Seriani both had six putouts. Embrey pitched this game, facing 19 batters, and pitching five innings. He threw a no-hitter and collected eight strikeouts. Embrey now has 63 strikeouts for the season and is ranked 3rd in Colorado Division 4A. “The season is going pretty good, we’re sitting at 4th right now, so as long as we stay top eight we’ll host regionals,” says Howard. The boys hold first place in the league with a 10-0 record. They have two more league games, which is a doubleheader against Glenwood Springs on Saturday, May 4th.
